AuthTake Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a technology that significantly increases account security by using several authentication methods when logging into an application. Instead of relying solely on a single authentication factor, such as username and password, this method involves two or more independent verification steps. Thanks to these additional layers of security, accounts become more protected against cyberattacks, data breaches and unauthorised access attempts.
MFA usually includes at least two of the three main verification factors: Something the user knows (such as a password), something they have (such as a phone, security key, or authentication app), and some unique biometric data (such as a fingerprint or facial recognition). In particular, one-time passwords (OTPs) sent to users’ phones during the login process or verification codes received through an application make it difficult for attackers to completely take over the account even if they have the passwords.
